Hello everyone. I was on renal web and saw a link to this site and thought I'd check it out. I started as a patient care tech/reuse tech in dialysis 15 years ago. At the time, we didn't use LPNs so I had to wait about a year before I could work as an LPN. I stayed in nursing for 10 years and changed over to technical. I became certified as a Bio-medical technician and have worked in that position for the last 5 years. Currently I am enrolled in an RN program.
I think working in both areas has really helped me to understand dialysis from every standpoint possible. I also have volunteered for the AKF annual Kidney Walk, Forward Bound - a camp for dialysis patients, and even spoke at a few dialysis patient meetings.
Gonna browse your forums now and basically get an idea whats currently being discussed.

Welcome to our community. This is a very wonderful community with a place for everyone with any connection whatever to the renal challenge. I particularly appreciate you joining us, since it shows that you are patient-oriented, and not just job-oriented. Here is a good place to see things from our perspective, and to get us to see it from your perspective too. Feel free - there is lots to read on this site. But I hope you will also post a lot. We want to get to know you. This site has become a genuine family. Check it out and you will see.
