Hi I hope Im posting this in the right place, I have been on dialysis for almost a year now, I am 25 years old and I was rushed into Hospital just in time for my first wedding aniversary and told that my kidney (I only have one) Isnt happy and "If you dont let us treat you you will die". I was then on Hemo dialysis for 9 months had six major infections, so spent a lot of that time in hospital, hemo wasnt good for, me I felt continually sick and weak and tired , and my bp was always to low or to high.
we eventually chose to change to capd just to get a holiday from the clinic where everyone was miserable.
been on capd for four weeks, going excellent, I can eat more drink more, travel more, do dialysis at home in front of my lovely wife, and my wife can do my exchange if Im not in the mood, my first real holiday in a year begins next week, So we are really looking forward to that.
so thats a bit about me, we didnt know anything about dialysis, or my kidneys failing, and spent the first three days crying together, and drs nurses and people even close friends were useless. and gave stupid advise. anyway, great site. good to have somewhere to vent as you call it. must go exchange time >:(

Welcome hephziba. I felt like I was reading my own memoir. I was just married and 24 when my kidneys failed and I had no idea I had a problem. I was on hemo 9 months and then switched to CAPD and did very well on that. Then I received a transplant. That was in 1988. I'm still alive if that gives you any hope! ;D
Please come here to post your frustrations. You wife is welcome too. Remember this is hard on her too.
Read through everything. This may take you days since we are growing very fast. We have several CAPD members, so feel free to ask questions if you run into problems.

Welcome.
This is a great place to get information , find answers or just talk about how you're dealing. I don't post as much as Rerun- ;) but I stop by at least three times a day to check on what's up, and have found a lot of great stuff here.
So to you and your wife- Welcome!

Welcome to the board. I'm the wife of a dialysis patient. You should get your wife to post on here too. I think there's only 2 or 3 of us spouses here, we need more!
