Title: XBOX Live
Post by: livecam on September 09, 2007, 05:45:21 PM
Do any other IHD members use XBOX live?  It might be fun to try playing against each other or just use XBOX live chat and IM.  I'm liveccam on XBOX live.  Feel free to add me.  If you have an account there and don't mind it being known to the world please post it here!

Hope to see you on XBOX live!

I am thinking of getting and XBOX 360 but there are so many versions to choose from.

I was thinking of getting the full system with a larger hard drive, wireless controller and headphones.

What system did you get Livecam and which do you think is best?

The core system is £179 here in the Uk and it goes all the way up to the ELITE system which has HDMI ports and supports Hi - Def TV.  I have read that unless you were a hardcore gamer you wouldn't notice the differences.  The Elite system costs £300 which is still cheaper than the PS3 at £400.  The system I'm looking at costs £270.

Do you think it is a worthwhile investment?

Hey Matt,

I got the Elite because of the reasons you mentioned.  XBOX is much more than just a gaming machine.  It is truely a high def entertainment device that happens to do games along with many other things.

It does true 1080P for progressive scan and plays upcoverted standard def  DVD's that  look absolutely gorgeous.  The media server functions are nice too with a networked computer.  You can stream audio, video, and photos to your HDMI connected hi def display, a very nice feature.  Add the ability to download movies and TV shows in HD and you have it all in one box.

The 120gb hard drive is helpful too...there is all kinds of stuff to download so the bigger the better.  You can connect thumbdrives and external USB hard drives for greater storage as well.  There is also a low cost external HD DVD player that turns the XBOX into a high definition DVD player as well.

Here in the USA I paid $449 from Amazon.com...no sales tax and it arrived in two days!  Get one!
