Title: Top of the Premier League
Post by: Ken Shelmerdine on August 20, 2007, 04:20:38 AM
 :yahoo; My beloved Manchester City football team beat the arch enemy Manchester United 1-0 yesterday. Couldn't get a ticket for the game but watched it on large screen in the Pub. That's 3 wins out of 3, maximum points and and we're Top of the Pemiership. Yaaaaaaaaaah!!! :beer1;

Enduring Image:- United's manager Sir Alex Furgusson's face when it gradually dawned on him that Tevez's header was not in the back of the net! :rofl; :rofl;

Sorry Neo I hadn't noticed this post. I guess it depends which league you are interested in and for which country. For news of the English Premier League and European Champions League I go to

This has nothing to do with chocolate, kilts or tiaras. I don't think I'll be reading this thread much.  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
Of course Man city and Man Utd sounds intriguing.  ;)

Lets just stop it right here. The Kingdom thread is going to invade every other thread if we're not careful! lol

It should be an exciting match this weekend. Manchester City is unbeaten against New Castle in three matches. New Castle has a few injuries, which might be an advantage for Manchester City.

I certainly did Romona I watched it on satellite TV in the pub. Tickets for premiership games are very expensive now and I only usually get to them if someone I know who is a season ticket holder can't go.

 Manager Sven Goran-Ericcson has built a team who I hope will be challenging for honours this season. For about 30 years we've always been in the shadow of Manchester United but with a team like we have now I think we can give them some serious competition. We already beat them 1-0 in the third game of the season. And wow you've you've been reading up the teams. I started reading the post before I looked who sent it presuming it was someone from the UK then I realised who it was.

It is such a nice game. I watched my two girls play yesterday and they have so much fun. Especially my youngest. She's 7 and has been playing for three years now. She is really understanding the game so much. The look on the kids faces when they score is so incredible. I actually understand the game better than American football. My son played from 4th grade until he graduated high school. I never understood the game and clapped when the other moms did.
I'm glad your team is doing so well.

Romona are you still coaching the kids' football team?

No, I'm not coaching but I do voluteer in other ways. I help registering the kids and volunteers. I was thinking of taking a team next year, but I am afraid too because of all my medical appoinmtents. I don't want to let the kids down.

Hi Neo
There does seem to be a football revival taking place in the USA. I hope it takes off this time after the collapse in the 80's. Trouble is football is all about money these days and if your major league clubs can afford the ridiculesly inflated wages then they'll get their share of the worlds best players. If not then you'll get a situation where even your best home grown players will move overseas to European clubs as is the case with many South American players. I hope that doesn't happen. One of the London Pemiere League clubs namely Chelsea were bought out some years ago by a Russian oil billoinaire named  Roman Abramovitch. With his money they bought up many of the worlds best players spending about £300 million pounds in transfer fees and from being a run of the mill premiership side became League Champions 2 seasons on the run. We (Manchester City) play them away in their stadium where they are unbeaten in three years this Saturday. This will be a stern test of City's revival as we are at present lying 3rd in the premiership. Chealsea are about 6th as their away form this season hasn't matched their home success.

If you want to watch more football there is a website which I just heard about today where you can see up to 3 English Premiership games live for 3.50 (double that for dollars) I'll find out the exact web address and post it on this thread.

Arrgggggh!! Disaster .....oh the humiliation

CHEALSEA 6 MAN. CITY0!!!!!!!!

City's best start to a season in 25 years is now followed by their biggest defeat in 20 years.
Can't say anything else, too gutted.

I've started watching rugby. My team is Sale Sharks. City play Bolton Wanderers away to-night in the Carling Cup. It can't get any worse than Saturday...can it?

Neo the web link islivefooty.com (http://livefooty.com) It's a pirate website so quite often it's broadcast from an overseas station so the commentary may not be in English. When you pay make sure you use something like Paypal or a a similar web payment service as I wouldn't trust the site with credit card details.
