I went into the hospital Thursday the 9th, and had the transplant on Friday the 10th in the morning. And they let me out on Monday the 13th.... WHAT THE HELL? I thought it was a good idea at the time, because I felt decent, but that was while i was on hospital pain medicines... They gave me lortab (lowgrade vicaden) for pain at home, IT DOESN'T DO THE TRICK!!! I'm in LOTSA PAIN! I'll post the whole story later, but I guess it was a success.
My creatinine went from 11.4 on Friday to 1.52 on Monday.. thats something isnt it? But I've been having a lowgrade temp ever since leaving the hospital.
Anyway, Thanks for the support, I wanted to say that. My family and friends have been great, and this web site is also helping me cope.
As i said, I'll post more when I feel better.

Hey Jaybird,
Glad to hear you're home. If it were me I would call the transplant team about the fever.
I am sorry you are in pain - ask if you can take extra strength Tylenol in addition to the pain meds.
Try to take it easy, drink lots of water - feel better soon!
:cuddle;

Way to go Jaybird! I love stories like yours. Transplants work! You'll have a great time with your new kidney!
-
Congrats, Jay! I agree with karol about the pain and the fever.
Creatinine under 2.0 :2thumbsup; hope it continues to go well.
-
Wow, a very early release, but congrats!! :) I would also call the transplant team about the fever, they should of told you to *always* call them when you have a fver, it is one sign of rejection, although it's also just a fever most of the time... better safe than sorry. :)
Conrgats again! :grouphug;
-
Great news Jay. Congratulations. Get rid of that fever and feel better every day.

Great to hear you're home, Jay. Like the others said, definitely call about the fever, even if it's not rejection, it could be an infection of some kind...never good with all those immuno-suppressants you're on. Tell us the whole story when you feel up to it!
-
Can't wait to hear your whole story. Get plenty of rest!
-
Great to hear your home! and the kidney is working great. Hope the pain gets better soon.

a that your kidney lasts many, many years.
Take it easy.
-
Congratulations, Jaybird!!!! I agree, do call someone about the fever, you shouldn't have one!! And while you're on the phone....COMPLAIN about the pain!!!!
-
glad to hear your kidney is doing great, sorry you are in so much pain- keep your chin up!! O0
-
Congratulations on your transplant. I hope the pain will be gone soon so you can enjoy your new gift. :grouphug;

Jaybird,
Congratulations! If you haven't already, report your fever. Also let them know that you are in pain. When a body is in pain, healing takes longer. Tell them Lortab doesn't work for you. (personally I think it sucks, and hate when Docs prescribe it to patients I care for).
Good Luck! Kelli

:bandance; Woo Hoo! Congrats! Good luck on a very speedy recovery! :bandance;

Glad to hear from you JayBird. Hope you are doing well. Take a big whiz for me please!

great to hear your transplant went well. I had mine a week before yours. My creatinine is still running around between 1.4 - 1.6. I still have pain in my right groin area which I'm hoping will go away soon. I hope your pain is doing better.
-
Well, welll.
Guess what.
I went in about the Extra pain and low grade fever I was having, and I got re-admitted! SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS! Also, my creatinine was back up to 4.8. What happened was my ureter didn't get a good connection to my bladder and I had some internal leakage. (peepee in my belly) IT HURT LIKE HELL!, also I was ademic, first time in my life my ankles swole up like melons and my belly was distended like hell. I normally have a flat belly. They did surgery on me that night.... and the second surgery was MORE painful than the first! Mainly because of the irritation in my stomach, and that damn JC drain they put in my side. That thing is HUGE and it irritated the hell outa me, i couldnt walk without dosing up on delauded. They had me on Delauded, percaset, Benadril for itching, and valume for muscle relaxer.. I as knocked the hell out and I still was miserable. Taking out the JC drain was a mixed blessing. It was great because I felt immediatly better and was able to walk a few hours later, but it HURT LIKE A MOFO taking it out. NO local pain meds to get that out, they just PULL it! and its HUGE inside you, no little tube, its freakin like a miniature ruler and twice as thick, with little holes on it. It felt like they were pullin my intestines out, through a little whole in my side.
I stayed in the hospital from the 16th till the 21'st... Boohoo for me, the 20th was my birthday. Hated spending it in the hospital. But i was not about to let them let out early again, I feel better now. NO fever or ademia, but things could change, I"ll let you know more when I know more.. Also, When i feel up to it, I'll go into the actual transplant itself.
Hope this information helps someone. :secret;

After seeing Knocked Up, I don't think you have to worry about Superbad. I saw it the other day and it didn't make me laugh to hard. Knocked Up on the other hand, is hilarious!!
