Even though I spent a week in the hospital last month (missed 4 July) and I had to go back and get my cath stitched last night (fistula not ready yet) im starting my training on MONDAY for nxstage. I AM SO EXCITED. and, of course, a great sendoff today - the guy dialyzin next to me today - my last day! - died.

Yeah, congrats!!! There is a lot to learn with NxStage, but it is very easy to do. I have to say it took a good month - 2 months until we were completely comfortable at home with it. Rob works during the day, so it seemed to take a lot of time up it seemed. Now it's very easy to set up and break down. His nurse is great and is working with him to keep it to 5 days a week, so we don't feel tied down to it as much.
It's nice because you can be a bit more liberale with the fluids. Since Rob works outside, that is the hardest part about dialysis for him. So it's nice to have that little bit extra. You guys will do great!!!
Sorry about the guy dying, that must have been so hard to see!!!

I felt bad for the guy, he was an old blind double amputee. When he started moaning a lot, I turned up my ipod and just prayed for it to be fast for him. I'm okay with death though, ive seen peple get shot right in front of me before.

You're going to love the NxStage, wade. I did my first run at home yesterday, and it was wonderful!

Good luck with your training. I wish we had it here in Australia. I have just come home with nocturnal. It is so good to be in control of it all. I am sure you will be home soon. Keep us posted. Liz :2thumbsup;

Eh, not so much of a big deal. He grew up in Richmond, and was around when it was the murder capital of the country...

So happy for you! Any advice? I start training monday.
-
Advice? Well, just try to relax and not get overwhelmed by all the things you have to remember. After 2 1/2 weeks of training it became second nature. Also, be prepared for A LOT of boxes - even with a pureflow we've still got a big stack of dialysae and everything. Hows it going for you?

Dont let yourself get overwhelmed, it is alot to remember but once you got a routine down, it's easy peasy lemon squeezy ;) ;) Good luck and let us know how your doing :2thumbsup;
