I don't agree with the democrat reference, but I admire this man :)
Update on Joe Arpaio....WE NEED MORE LIKE HIM!!!!
TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO
HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF
AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio
(In Arizona)
who created the
"Tent City Jail":
He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies.
He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.
Then He Started
Chain Gangs For Women
So He Wouldn't Get
Sued For
Discrimination.
He took away cable TV Until
he found out there was
A
Federal Court Order
that
Required Cable TV For Jails.
So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again
Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.
When asked why the weather channel
He Replied,
So They Will Know
How Hot It's Gonna Be
While They Are Working
ON
My Chain Gangs.
He Cut Off Coffee
Since It Has
Zero Nutritional Value.
When the inmates complained, he told them, "This Isn't
The Ritz/Carlton.
If You Don't Like It,
Don't Come Back."
He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.
When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.
More On The Arizona Sheriff:
With Temperatures Being Even Hotter
Than Usual In Phoenix
(116 Degrees Just Set A New Record),
the Associated Press Reports:
About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment
At The
Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued
Pink Boxer Shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached
138 Degrees
Inside The Week Before.
Many Were Also Swathed In Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS.
"It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,"
Said James Zanzot,
An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year.
"It's Inhumane."
Joe Arpaio,
the tough-guy sheriff
who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic
He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 Degrees In Iraq And
Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too,
And They Have To
Wear Full Battle Gear,
But
They Didn't Commit Any Crimes,
So Shut Your Damned Mouths!"
Way To Go, Sheriff!
Maybe if all prisons were like this one
there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders.
Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.
Sheriff Joe
was just re-elected Sheriff in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Amen Kelli...Sheriff Joe is my kind of guy. We could use at least ten thousand more Joe Arpaio's all over this country.
You forgot his other great accomplishment, the illegal alien posse! Round em up and move em out! :yahoo;
-
wow-wish our sherrif was that tough.... :clap;
-
He's got my vote :yahoo;
-
We need him down here :ausflag; Maybe he could visit for a working holiday! ;)
-
Oh yeah, he's a peach alright. His county has paid out over $20 million in settlements due to deaths and injuries that have occurred in Joe's jail.
I'm all for prisons being a place of punishment, but like it or not inmates have rights in this country and Joe is not observing them.
As for his vigilante round up of undocumented persons, did you know that Joe has appointed himself judge and jury and illegally jails the people he finds? Instead of turning them over to the Feds, as required by law. The state of Arizona and the Feds regularly have to visit his "private" jail to make sure all of the inmates are actually in the system to be tried and/or deported.
Joe scares the crap out of me and it makes me sick that a man like this continues to be elected by people think it's OK for him to follow the laws he wants to and ignore the laws he doesn't like.
You don't like this laws? Then fight to change them. :usaflag;
-
I'm all for this guy. I believe the moment you commit a crime serious enough to be put in jail, you lose your rights. Like he said, if you don't like it, don't come back.
-
This should be the norm around the country.
-
My husband works in a county jail, so I understand what goes on there fairly well...
As for rights, the prisoners have a right to a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs and two (yes, two) meals a day. That's it. I completely agree, if you don't like, don't break the law!

Go Sheriff Joe! Sheriff Joe refuses to close illegal alien hotline! :yahoo;
Sheriff urged to close immigrant hotline 1 hour, 13 minutes ago
PHOENIX - Latino leaders and faith-based organizations want Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to disconnect the hotline he created for people to report information about undocumented immigrants, saying it raises the chance of racial profiling.
But Arpaio said Wednesday that he won't disconnect the hotline and stressed that deputies would investigate people only if authorities had probable cause.
The hotline began last Friday and has received about 300 messages, which include tips about family and friends, employment, day laborers, drop houses and crank calls.
Arpaio said officials are analyzing the tips and officials have not acted on any of the calls.
"There's nothing unconstitutional about putting up a hotline," Arpaio said, pointing out that U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement have similar hotlines.
The hotline is part of an expanded immigration enforcement plan Arpaio unveiled last week that also includes sheriff's deputies cross-trained to enforce immigration law.
Some Latino advocacy groups will launch a hotline of their own to take tips from people who believe they've been unfairly reported to Arpaio's hotline, said activist Mary Rose Wilcox, a Maricopa County supervisor.
Meanwhile, some faith-based organizations are circulating a letter among church leaders and members that decries Arpaio's hotline.
___
The hotline number is 602-876-4154.

Oh stop it Chicken Littlegore
Oh, an attempt to be witty. ::)

Ohio could use someone like him.
-
I'm sick of criminals having more rights then their victims.
-
Though I don't agree with the inmates cooking to death in the heat but I do agree that they should have no real rights once they enter prison. Making them wear pink is a fantastic way to demoralize them and keep down the egos. It would have to be hard being all manly in pink boxers and socks. If the penalties for committing crimes were stiffer and more in line with the severity of the crimes committed there would be less crime in my opinion. There are many criminals that once they are released commit another crime to get back in simply because their life in prison is easier than having to work for a living on the outside. You also have to remember that every criminal lives in prison on your dime. We pay their way because they committed a crime. There are much better things that money could be used for, like healthcare for instance. Oh yeah, I am pro death but only the people that did something severe enough to warrent death should be killed not all prisoners.

Illegally jails them? If they broke the law, they are entitled to go straight to jail. Nothing illegal about it.

Now Sheriff Joe wants to keep illegals from visiting inmates in his jail! You go Sheriff Joe!
Sheriff to Bar Illegals from Visiting County Jail Inmates
July 27th, 2007 @ 6:49am
by Bob McClay/KTAR
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is developing system designed to keep illegal immigrants from visiting county jail inmates.
Sheriff's deputies would do background checks on every one who comes for a jail visit.
"We will be looking at some type of procedure where we identify illegals coming into the jail. They won't be able to come in."
When someone comes to the jail to visit an inmate, they're required to show ID. Arpaio says the background check will be completed before their next jail visit.
Those who can't prove citizenship would be denied a second visit and could be arrested.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio says one man decides who gets to visit an incarcerated loved one. "I run the jail. I decide who goes in there."
"I run the jail and I have to be careful for security reasons."
Arpaio says screening jail visitors is nothing new. Since 2004, over 1,600 people with felony criminal histories have been turned away when trying to visit a Maricopa County jail inmate.
