I'll start this discussion off with a question.
Who has taken prednisone before adolsence kicked in or at least during your teen years? Like, I started taking it at 12-13..

I am a little confused. Your thread says Sex drive and prednisone. I didn't take prednisone when i was young but did take it when i had my transplant. It made my sex drive more than i had before. The sad thing was my wife at the time didn't have a sex drive at all so i am afraid it was wasted on my self.

Yes, My thread does say Sex Drive and Prednisone... because the 2 are related, unfortunately for me, :lol;
There is something in prednisone, that released into your body when you take it, it's the same thing that your body releases to say, "Hey you want some action... " and makes you, "In the mood"... well, since the prednisone is already releasing it into your body, your body thinks it's already been released and don't release it itself... so therefore, I never can get "In the mood".... I forgot the name of the chemial that it released and such, but anywho, that's why the Hormone specialists and GYN told me... I hae not seen one in years to see what they can do to fix it... but I haven't taken prednisone since 2004, yet my sex drive is still not here... probably b/c I been on prednisone for over 7 years, idunno... just wanted to know if there's a fi for this problem... I would love to actually have a sex drive... and enjoy sex. I have 2 kids, yes... however I never once had se for the enjoyment and pleaasure for myself.. it was always done to say "im not a virgin and im not a person without a sex drive"... Thenwhen in a relationship I did it for my partner.... I don't recall ever enjoying it... and I have never.. had an O... I just want to experience a normal sex life and understand what all the hype is about...
Ok, that's the end of my sex rant for the day. haha....

Angela, is the sex drive problem because you started taking prednisone in puberty? I have been on prednisone for 14 years and I have a sex drive. I am on a very low dose though 5mg a day. That may affect it.

The only thing they tell me is b/c of the hormone realsed by the medicne that your body is supposed to realse but its due to prednisone already putting it into you body. I am going to be making an appt with a gyn soon as I can to start to work this out and probably put me on hormone pills.

Well at least i'm not alone then with the no sex drive deal. To me it totally sucks, b/c I have *never* gotten horny in my life,... so I don't know how good it feels... and how much sex can be enjoyable... I feel like im losing out on something that's fun.. I'm hoping these dr's can help me out in that department. Is there a "viagra" for women?

Ahh... yah. I guess I never got a sex drive due to being on prednisone at such a young age. Damn that medicine!! lol

Just a guess, but in my opinion, it is likely that the pred, years of stress on your body, and the kidney failure wiped out your adrenal glands and your thyroid. The above site will give you the list of symptoms, tests required to get a definitive diagnosis, and the best meds to take to correct the imbalance. Without sufficient thyroid hormones there is fatigue, and little or NO sex drive.
