Post by: pdpatty on June 03, 2007, 11:36:56 AM
My shoulder(right one) hurts ,up into my neck. Started last night. Also a feeling of fullness in right side below the ribs.
What do you do to relieve thiis?  Tylenol seemed to help. How long will it last?

I have had this happen to me and believe me, it was the worse pain i had felt in a long time, it lasted for me a good couple of weeks, i know i posted about it a long time ago searching for solutions but i think its just going to take time.  I remember my PD nurse told me to drain with my butt up in the air so the air bubble can try and make its way out, cant say that it didnt work cuz i really didnt try it :P  Sorry i am not any help, i just wanted to let you know that i feel your pain my friend, good luck and hopefully it will go away soon.  ::)

I used to get this alot when I first started on PD. It doesn't happen to me anymore (I guess I've built up a tolerance) but I certainly haven't forgotten the feeling!
I DID take the advice of my nurse and put my butt up in the air, laying on my shoulders against a chair (and if you can figure out what I mean by this description you win a prize!!). Anyway, if done a couple times at the beginning of the drain (when you're fullest) the bubbles will rise to the top and drain out. You'll look like a fool but it sure helps!
And if you aren't willing to try it, keep the tylenol around for a while!

:( yeah, that always hurts like hell whenever that happened it was my left shoulder that hurt. the only thing that helped me was draining myself out completely and waiting for a few hours.

I've noticed i get them when I do manuals hardly ever when I do my cycler. I've also noticed I have more pain when doing the manuals, with LESS fluid! Which  I thought was odd.
Anyway, I either take tylenol, do the butt thing, or just let it go. Depends upon the severity, I guess.

Well, now, KS. That IS a possibility.  I have been noted to be full of it. So instead of giving others a pain in the *** I'm giving it to myself???

Huh...I wonder if this is my problem.  Even though I've just been getting flushes, I get extreme, shooting pains in my right shoulder and into my neck.  My doctor thinks that it's just because I'm tense, but it's happened twice now.  When I get home I just have to lay on the couch with some painkillers and wait for it to go away (usually the next day sometimes).

Yep, you've got them!! Apparently the nurse isn't giving the air enough time to pass, before setting up the flush. They hurt as all dickens, don't they?
