Whether it is PD or Hemo, are you restricted to sleeping in certain positions or can you change sleeping positions at night?
-
Well everyone is different , I am on hemo nocturnal, I can walk around my bedroom connected, sleeping is fine move around and sleep however I want. I think with hemo it depends on
your access (fistula) and how sensitive it is with alarming.
-
My PD catheter comes out of my left hip and inside of me the "sucker" rests in the lower right side of my peritoneum. I will only drain about 500 ml laying on my left side and sometimes I roll onto my right side if I'm having trouble draining, but for the most part I lie on my back and get a complete drain.
-
I am currently on PD and i can sleep on either side with no problems draining, however i have discovered i cannot be on my back cuz the pain is excruciating when that little sucker is done draining :o
-
With an arm access, graft or fistula, you are told be careful not to sleep on that arm or put a lot of weight on it at all.

Hubby can sleep any way he wants, He has even dragged the machine to the washroom!! If the line kinks he just gets an alarm.
