Any one with kidney failure and also have Hep. B or am I the only one?
-
I do not suffer from it.... but i have known of a few people who apparently god Heb B from a dialysis machine!
Is your kidney failure caused by Heb B?
-
No, Iga (immune disorder).
I discovered that I have Hep. B when I was on dialysis. It scared the heck out of me because I stayed in the hospital for 1 month due to inflammation.
How do one know that the infection is from dialysis?
-
The presence of Hepatitis B is fairly common in dialysis units. Thats why every dialysis patient must be vaccinated against it. I'm not sure just how it is transmitted. The blood loop in hemo is independant of the machine since it is disposable tubing and a kidney that isn't shared by anyone else. Maybe the reuse process is the culprit.
Can someone weigh in on how Hep B is spread in units?
-
I am not to sure..... but the person i new who got it from dialysis, her doctor traced it back that.
during that month you stayed in hospital, what procedures did you have??
Has your doctor not said anything about how you could of contracted it?

Mostly blood tests to monitor liver enzyme.
I threw up whatever I ate in the morning. I always felt full. After injection of Interferon and switched to pill, I regained somewhat of my old self. Now, I try to rest as much as possible after kidney transplant to not exert any further damage to my liver. I am now considered chronic Hep. B. I just pray and more pray the viruses go easy on my liver.
Thanks for responses as always.
