I've been to Amsterdam six or seven, alright eight times since starting dialysis - it's just a coincidence ... really ... um the flights are convenient from Seattle to Schipol.

I use to dialyze in the city then they closed one unit (the one I went to three different occasions: 5/96, 7/96, 7/98) before a new unit was opened so it became hard to visit a Amsterdam unit. I then dialyzed in Hilversum (10/99), followed by Utrecht (11/00, 9/03, 7/04, 8/05) now I hear there is an Amsterdam unit back online.

I hope I see full trip reports.

Susie, there are "coffee shops" galore in Amsterdam where you can walk by and smell the aroma rolling out the doors and windows.  They are far better than any Starbucks I have ever been to.  You can buy a slice of space cake or a cookie or brownie to go along with your coffee or to enjoy later.

john - I would also like a pound of "coffee" to be sent to me if you are going to take a few orders for your friends here. How much is that at $20 a gram?  I didn't realize that there was a music scene there, what is it that you plan on going to?  I would defiantly go to the Van Gogh museum if I were you.  Mushrooms before hand make it very cool indeed!

*smacks head* OHHHHH, NOW I GET IT, Duh,  sheeeit, why are you guys just asking for A pound?  Baby, put me down for 5 pounds, and please address it to:  Anastacia Beaverhousen... They'll know who it's for :P   Oh, and you can tell that Juan Valdez guy that he can keep his ol' coffee, Anastacia has a new supplier ;)  thank you  8)

Susie - 5lbs??  Good grief woman, can I come and hang at your house?  You know that's going to be around $15K plus shipping and handling right?

donnia, as far as it not being good for you....there are not many things that I know of that are good for me these days although dairy has been temporarily been taken off the no-no list.  A little "coffee" can't be that bad. ;)

All right All right what are we admitting here. How about getting a law passed that dialysis patients are required to "have coffee" as a medical benefit.. then we wouldn't have to go to Amersterdam we could just go over to Susie's house..Boxman55

I remember one called Nepalese Temple Ball and another called White Widow.  Both should be consumed sparingly when you have the rest of the day free.

Geez...have we identified the real reason for kidney failure in some of the patients on this site? For all of the light hearted chatter in this thread please remember that the stuff mentioned here isn't good for anyone, especially renal patients.  Not kidding.

If one were to use a vaporizer when drinking "coffee" you remove all the negative effects of smoking. So unless their is study that actually proves the active ingredients in "coffee" are harmfull, what is the problem?
