Title: Assistance for living donors and recipients
Post by: okarol on May 09, 2007, 09:14:58 AM
Assistance for living donors

"TRIO" ("Transplant Recipients International Organization") offers some help to living donors as well as to recipients. Two programs which can sometimes help living donors or potential donors are:

1. In cooperation with United Airlines, TRIO can sometimes provide free air travel for "travel by an organ donor for the purpose of donation or for medical consultation or treatment which is a prerequisite for donation" and "Donor family members on a case-by- case basis.
(Anyone can also donate their "United Airlines frequent Flyer Miles" to TRIO to be used for this purpose.)
info at: www.trioweb.org/resources/united.html

2. Some $1,000 College scholarships for "deserving students who are transplant candidates, recipients, donors or their family members."
info at: www.trioweb.org/resources/scholarships.html
(Donations can also be made to help provide such scholarships.)
