Hey. Just wanted to post an update and let you all know that after 7/-8
months on PD dialysis I got a kidney transplant Thursday 6/30. Doing well so far. My creatinine is down from 6 to 2.1 so far. It began working right away.
In a lot of pain when I try to move and need help getting up or moving around still but otherwise feeling good. Was originally a backup so was so surprised when u get the come to hospital call came the next am. What a way to start the summer!!!
So grateful. Once I am feeling a bit lore mysel I’m excited about being able to do all the stuff that I put on hold this past year, like traveling.
Anyway will update again later. Take care everyone.

Thanks everyone. Doing okay. Kidney function seems like it’s getting better each day. Pain is still really bad, but I can now get up from the chair on my own and walk to the bathroom. They wouldn’t give me iv pain meds Bc of my low bp, gave me oxy which I don’t like how it made me feel so I refused it. Am now pn tramadole every 8 hrs plus Tylenol. Idk if it helps but feel better than taking an opioid.
I don’t remember the pain being this bad last time but it was 33 years ago so perhaps it did. I will say that I had awesome service thurs and fri, but this weekend was a joke. Took like 25 min for my call bell to get answered Bc there were so few ppl working here. Apparently being in the hospital on the weekend before the 4th of July here in the USA means skeleton crew even ina transplant hospital. Crazy.
At least the night nurse is good.
They are planning to let me go home tomorrow if all looks good. I still have a drain in and a stent. But no more foley cath or iv drugs. My mom is staying w me so she will be able to help me recover.
Will share more later when feeling better.

Many thanks for taking the time to up-date us on your progress. I am very sorry for your current medical problems and hopefully they are "teething-problems" straight after your transplant? Fingers crossed and hopefully "things" go better from now on and I am very glad that your mother is with you to help with your recovery and I send you my good-luck wishes from Kristina. :grouphug; Good Luck!

Thank you.
I finally pooped which I think helped some. Lol
I am now able to get up from bed and chair on my own. Still have pain but otherwise all looks good. Creatinine is now 1.29. And hemoglobin is going back up.
The drs just came in and said I can go home today. Excited to be discharged. Hopefully will continue to recover and things will start looking up. The future is looking pretty good atm.

Pooping is good! You're making great progress, otherwise your doctors wouldn't be letting you go home. Please do let us know how things are going once you get home and continue recovering. I'm eager to hear how you are getting on with your new cocktail of immunosuppressants. It takes a while to get used to a new routine.
Again, congratulations!

Hey! Big congratulations! I am so happy for you!
Hopefully by the time you are ready to travel/hit the skies, all the airport insanity will be cleared up! Life your best life! Rooting for you.

Thanks!
Had my first clinic appt today. Creatinine is down to 1. They are upping the tacro and giving me a phosphors med. i have to increase my dairy as my P is low. She even told me to have diet coke! Haven’t had cola in years.
Feeling okay. They gave me lasix
So should get rid of some of the swelling in feet.
Pain is still biggest complaint but otherwise I’m feeling good. They r gonna take out drain Friday, and schedule to remove PD cath prob next week. It’s all so surreal. Still kind of feel in a brain fog tho. Thank god my mom is here to help me.
Thanks for all the well wishing. This is all so crazy it doesn’t exactly feel real yet.
