Hello,
For a while I have been wondering about publishing some of my art-work in some book-form and I have noticed, that "things" have certainly changed very much in recent years.
There are, of course, still publishers who, like "in the old days", accept and read a manuscript and take or take not the risk to publish it ... and there are "new" Internet-publishers who get a salary, paid for by the author to assist the author in publishing a manuscript through the Internet ... and there are publishers who assist - again for a salary - an author to self-publish ... and the publishing-world seems like a "maze", where, after a while it becomes very difficult, to see the trees for the wood ... and the publishing-world also appears almost unrecognizable from the "old days", when a publisher did or did not recognize an author, when they came about a manuscript... and ... most importantly ... what about the author's copyright these days, especially on the Internet?
Does anyone have any experiences in this "field"?
Many thanks for your kind thoughts from Kristina. :grouphug;

I do not, but I have read of "art" books being funded via Kickstarter. From my experience in tech products funded via Kickstarter often the person seeking money talks a bit about the challenges they face getting their products to market. You might browse around on some of the "art" book projects and see if any of the stories talk about how they are self publishing their work and how the money they raise will help that. Under "more filters" you can filter on Successful projects where more information might be shared. Keep an eye on the Updates section where creators update their contributors on the process.

If you choose to try to fund your project on Kickstarter pay attention to the videos. I've read that good quality videos are very important to fundraising on the platform. The fundraising is generally if you contribute X you get Y, so you make up goals (where the gift cost to you and contribution level makes sense) like contribute $5 I send you a thank you email, contribute $55 and you'll get a signed book shipped in the UK plus everything offered at lower denomination contributions, contribute $75 and you get a signed book shipped anywhere in the world.
All the above would provide insight on the self publishing world where you create a physical book.

Hello Iolaire and many thanks for your kind assistance, it helps me a lot and I do appreciate your positive thoughts very much.
I also appreciate very much your mentioning "Kickstarter", as I have never heard of it or read about it before and I shall be, from now on, very busy by watching the videos very carefully and let all the useful information "sink in" and go from there.
As an artist I believe, that some of the groundwork has already been accomplished by me having had international exhibitions of my art-work etc. and I feel, that through the Internet we have now truly "entered" a fascinating new age and I like it very much.
At the same time I also value "the old-fashioned-way" by holding a book in my hands and enjoy reading it.
It makes me very happy to think about a positive way forward with my art-work and I send you many thanks again from Kristina. :grouphug;
Take care.
