Title: University of Florida Gainesville
Post by: Cupcake on March 05, 2020, 12:24:03 PM
I am wintering (like a snowbird) at the Villages in north central Florida and like it here so much I may move her permanently! The nearest transplant center is University of Florida Gainesville. Does anyone go there or have any thoughts about their level of care? There is a transplant clinic at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, too, but 'you can't get there from here' without traveling small state and county highways; I drove it recently and it was only 120 miles but 2.5 hours. That is about how far I go at home, but its interstate all the way.

Bet that sounds pretty whiney to those of you from western states or Canada where you might have to travel much further!

Any insight into Gainesville is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS My GFR is 76 and creatinine is 0.83, 16 months post transplant.

I don't know a thing about tx clinics in Florida, but I wanted to congratulate you on those fabulous numbers!

My aunt LOVES the Mayo Clinic in J'ville, but she's not a tx patient.  I didn't even know they had a tx clinic!
