I'm paying bills right now. I just wrote the check to Consumer's Energy for the electric bill. As I'm licking the envelope, I read the little message on the flap. Next to the cute little graphic of a computer mouse, it says this -
"Power Outage? Visit our Web site and select "For Home" to report an outage and get restoration updates. www.consumersenergy.com"
Now how the heck am I going to use the computer if my power is out? Duuuuuuuuuh. ...

You could still get online using a laptop (Go, Go Battery Power) with a internal modem (Power outages don't usually effect the phonelines) or maybe using wireless if it was an isolated instance allowing you to connect to someone else's system.

How about when you call a doctor's office and you get a recording "If this is an emergency please hang up and dial 911".
So are you supposed to call 911 and tell them the doctor's office told you to call?
I should call 911 and tell them I need an appointment with my doctor right away and they told me to dial 911? Here's your sign.

I was just pointing out that it is possible. Not likely, just possible.
