Title: caregiver jobs
Post by: justagirl2325 on February 26, 2019, 12:40:45 PM
Well it seems my company has decided that I haven't been giving my career enough attention.  I know I have taken a lot of time off since my husband was diagnosed with ESRD in July 2014 - between home hemo, bypass, kidney donation and pancreas transplant.  I guess I just took it for granted that it would always be there.  Leadership has changed and now I'm under a type of probation until the end of the year.  Fun.   Trying to work today but find myself day dreaming of shaming them by making this public if they demote me.

Sorry for the worry.

Are you US based?  If so make sure all leave is under FMLA rather than adhoc leave, as FMLA grants you legal productions should they every treat you poorly.

Rotten basta's!  >:D   I'm sure you explained to them that helping your husband while he underwent home D and then TWO transplants are lifesaving measures but are also steps towards having a future with your careers. If you can do ALL that and be there through ALL THAT for your husband, you certainly make a very good employee -one that any company should be pleased to have. Smart, driven, devoted, dependable, unafraid, detail-orientated....I could go on and on. If you are good enough to administer someone's life support treatment (home D) then you are certainly good enough to be employed. Don't be shy about letting them know that you are an asset because of your skills and "drive" that not many others have. Let them know your experience with your husband has made you a stronger person. And if you have to, let them watch a youtube of someone doing home D.

This is so upsetting! It isn't as if you slacked on the job or took all the time off in the world for vacation. You had to deal with serious issues. Man, this is so angering! I hope it works out for you... though some teeth grinding is going on.
