Title: NxStage features
Post by: Adam_W on April 27, 2007, 05:57:17 PM
I have a few questions regarding the features on the NxStage. First, does it have UF profiling and/or sodium variation? I use UF profiling now and I'd hate to lose that (although I guess I could do without it if I had to). Second, does it have a built in blood pressure monitor? If it doesn't, I have my own I can use, but I'm just wondering. Third, I've read somewhere that the NxStage doesn't have and arterial pressure monitor. Is this true? If it is, that seems kind of weird to me. I know that it doesn't have a heparin pump, but neither do the 2008H's in my centre, so that's not a huge deal. Take care.

Mine does have an arterial pressure monitor - although it can be configured to run without monitoring arterial pressure. As to the rest of your questions the answer is no - in fact right now the System One offers only one "flavor" of dialysate: 1K. It is likely that your treatment would change in a number of ways if you switched.

NxStage does not describe its System One as a hemodialysis machine, it is described as a cycler. The word cycler is suggestive of PD and in some ways the System One is a hybrid of hemo and PD.
