Welcome to IHD!
PD worked well for me for 3 1/2 years until I failed to stay extra cautious during my set-up one evening. I must have 'touched' and open fitting while making bag connections. So slight I didn't even realize that I had done it. The resulting infection had me in the ER long before morning. Infection will grow that fast and so badly that you can barely draw in a breath, it hurts that bad.
STAY Extremely careful during ALL Set-Ups!
Other than that PD is great in that the freedom of diet and fluid consumption is wonderful! Unlike the strict limits while on Hemo, there is absolutely NO Comparison. Travel can be awkward, but still very possible. You just need to plan ahead, make double sure you take along extra supplies just in case anything goes wrong with a set-up that you have 'spares' of everything, just in case.
Take Care,
Charlie B53
