My first post as we are in the car on our way back to the hospital to kiss my mom good night. She had her kidney, ureter and part of her bladder removed. Her other kidney is not working. She will be starting dialysis tonight. 😢
It was so hard to see her after this surgery. She is one of the toughest people I know and she is in so much pain. We have a lot of strength in our family and we are all very close. ❤️
My sister and I are both adults in our 40's but we have spent the week with our dad to give strength and love to each other.
We have each had our moments of breaking down. Mine was this afternoon after seeing my mom.
We will definitely be using this site for support and resources.

Welcome to IHD.
Your Mom is in the right place to be taken care of.
Far too often people fail to notice as things are going seriously wrong until it is way too late. Be assured that the Dr's have done what is necessary and the dialysis will take a few treatments before Mom's blood test begin to show a lot of progress. It is a continuing process but she will get better.
Dealing with her pain is very important. But also dealing with her depression of facing a life on dialysis is also very important.
Knowing that you are there for her is the best thing you can do right now.
Learning to improve diet and control fluid intake is going to be an ongoing project.
There are loads of information here. Anything you can't find or have problems understanding post away, we will do our best to help.
Take Care,
Charlie B53
