Title: introduction
Post by: sakinah on July 15, 2018, 04:32:16 AM

hi

ive just joined this site to get information and to give information where and whenever possible, I am a dialysis patient and have been for a year now, I was born with a kidney disease called renal tubla aciciocisous but a year ago I was diagonised with stage 5 kidney failure, they have completely shut down now, so im on dialysis and needing a transplant eventually.

I hate dialysis most days but some days are not too bad, one its so boring two I have a bladder problem and always needing to go to the toilet which is embarrassing and if I dont take my pain medication it can be extremely painful in my joints as I have severe arthritis/osteomlacia.  I can relate to a lot of problems that we experience as kidney patients and would love to share the experiences and help anyone who needs support and advice, that goes for me too  :bandance;

hope to see you on posts

dont expect too many, as I get quite busy or too ill, or theres no internet in the unit to even go on there so annoying!! :banghead;

sakinah xx :)

So glad you joined us.   :welcomesign;  Our clinic does have WiFi but it is always kicking me off and it is hard to type with one hand.  I usually watch TV or I have a portable DVD player so I bring a movie.

Hi Sakinah,

Welcome to IHD.

You must still have some 'residual function' if your kidneys are making enough urine to become a problem during treatments.  I still make a litte, not much of a problem unless I don't void before going in.  The bladder shrinkage over time is what creates the urgency.  A tiny bladder doesn't need much in it to create a problem.  You may need to bring this up with one of your Nurses/Dr's to find out if there is anything helpful. strapped to their leg so as to enable them to keep driving rather than stop for a bathroom break.  I've no idea how well this works.  Same with a catheter. I just cannot see myself inserting one, much less leaving it there during treatment.

I've no interest in a 'smart phone'.  Maybe I'm not smart enough to learn how to use one.  I do not care for such a tiny screen.  I take my laptop to treatment and spend most of my time watching documentaries on youtube.

Take Care,

Charlie B53
