I’m relatively new to CKD. Just discovered this site. Male, 69 years old, Creatinine 2.48, GFR 25, BP 124/76, 5’9” 140 lbs, BMI 21.62. Started super low protein, fat & sodium vegan diet two weeks ago loosely based on Dr. Kempner and the “Rice Diet” with information from Dr. Michael Greger’s “How Not To Die” and “The Starch Solution” by Dr. John McDougall. Working out 30 min. 5 days a week. I got up to GFR 29 about a month ago (after prostate surgery in November) then flattened out. I feel great but get a little tired. Ordered “Coping with Kidney Disease” after reading some posts here. Good luck to everyone!

So you haven't yet had to start Dialysis. Paying attention to your labs, learning how to eat right can help immensely to reduce to work of your kidneys, making them function much longer. Some have managed to extend their time for years before needing Dialysis. Go by how you feel. Taking charge of your life, exercising is also another big plus in your favor.
Dialysis.org and kidneyschool.org both have tons of information to help patients learn whats going on with there body, what can be expected. Both help you make much better informed decisions. If you can take the time, it will be time well spent.
Hemo vs PD? There are definate advantages of each. Deciding which would be best for you can only be answered by you. Don't necessarily let the Dr decide. He isn't living your life.
