Hello all, had my transplant last Monday, I had to go on a second time on Tuesday to relieve a blood clot, but after that my new kidney was functioning just fine. Apparently it started functioning immediately after the transplant surgery. I had a Foley catheter in and I’ve been producing a ton of urine through it. All of my numbers look good. The problem occurred when they removed the catheter a few days ago. I had extreme problems urinating. Tons of burning and blockage.. It would take me 10 to 20 minutes to produce 200 ccs of urine. After about 12 hours of pain they replaced the catheter and I immediately started producing large amounts of urine again. They left it in for another three days and all was well. They administered Flowmax at that time, which I am still taking. They removed the catheter a second time yesterday, and I mean we started having the same problems. Burning, blockage, and difficulty getting the urine to flow although it was slightly easier than the first time. They did an in and out catheter last night to remove the excess, which immediately came out easily. Now in the middle of the night three hours later I’m right back to where I started. It’s very difficult to urinate and uncomfortable. Feels like there’s a brick wall in between. I really don’t want to have them to put in a catheter in every time I have to go the bathroom because it’s very painful. Anyone go through anything like this!? I didn’t have any prostate problems before surgery although I was producing very little urine by the time the transplant came up. This seems to be the only thing holding me back at this point from being released from the hospital I’m getting very frustrated.
