I don't know about glipazide but I do know my Dr initially started me on Metformin.  A short time later my Neph told me Metformin works through kidney function and is not used for renal patients.  Nether Dr suggested glipazide.

You may well be controlling your blood sugar with diet and insulin as well as I am.  My a1C runs right around 5.8  I consider myself fortunate at that but my Primary Dr wants it more like 6.2  I think I will just keep doing what I am doing and remain as low as possible.

I very rarely need any fast insulin.  I am down to 20 units of Lantus.  Most of my improvement has been losing a lot of the excess weight I have gained since getting hurt in the late 90's.

Keep your intake of 'White' as low as possible.  More fresh and frozen veggies, fresh fruits.

Take Care,
