Title: Introduction
Post by: Tired!123 on April 05, 2018, 10:32:47 AM
Hi. My name is Nautica and I stumbled upon this website through my sister who was looking up how to help me deal with being on dialysis. I have no one to talk to considering that I do not know anyone else on dialysis. I have been on dialysis going on four years, and it started off okay, but lately; it has just been becoming too much. Sometimes, you just need validation that you are not the only one going through something, and I hop that this website can be just the thing for me. When I first started dialysis, it was peritoneal, which got infected; so I had to start on hemodialysis and still on it. Hemodialysis started off okay, I had the tube in my chest that needed to be replaced because it fell out. Then the surgeons put a fistula in my right arm, which lasted two years; and currently I am waiting to go to my appointment for the surgeon to "Okay" the nurses to use the fistula they just placed in my leg. Between starting dialysis and now, I have had some much medical stuff happening that it is making my head spin, and I am on the younger side on in my twenties that I have a hard time finding people to relate to.  Maybe this site will help, I will just have to wait and see.  :shy; :(

Welcome to the group, its a great source to talk things out and learn from other peoples discussions.   I continue to fine my self well informed in my kidney lifecycle thanks to various discussions I've read over the years. And I also feel like others can learn from what I share.

Also if you are looking for a busy dialysis social place there is a Facebook group of the same name with a lot more activity - so much activity that I only let those posts in my feed for about a day.  But being high volume it might be helpful to some.  It also felt like a good place to say my day sucks and get lots of re-enforcement, prayers and the like.

Personally I like this site better as its a smaller group with low traffic but high quality information on each of our unique dialysis (and transplant) experiences.

Welcome to our IHD 'Family' Nautica!

And we are much like a Family, only everyone is afflicted or a Caregiver to an afflicted patient.

There is loads of information contained in all of our forums, you can spend as much time as you like browsing, learning of fellow members problems, the suggestions others have made.  And surprisingly how much of that relates to you.

Members are constantly posting questions.  Searching old threads can be difficult, I know I have problems looking, so even when an answer isn't easily found it never hurts to ask.

Then there are those times when you get soo frustrated, it can be such a great help just to spell out all that frustration, rant if you will, and blow off some steam.  We do that here too!

I'm glad you found us.

Take Care,

Charlie B53
