Title: New Intro from South Australia
Post by: Garrett on January 19, 2018, 10:01:17 PM
Hi Guys

My name is Garrett and I was born with deformed ureters.

During my childhood I had many Kidney infections and 2 bilateral Ureter Reimplantations -both didn't work properly
At the age of of about 26 started Hemo, didn't know what hit me at the time and had no idea what was going on, stayed on hemo foe 3 months (very lucky) and my sister gave me a Kidney.
Forward 10 years, that kidney failed due to Nephron toxicity and went back to Hemo for 18 months. Received a Cadver Kidney and that lasted until approx 1 year ago.

This time I was not 100% for the last year with a Creat of 330 and a GFR of about 10-15% - and only just started PD 4 weeks ago, must say that I recommend it over HD.

About to go through my 3 kidney transplant work up now, stay tuned for that

Married, no real kids, only dogs.

Dogs are better than kids.
I don't really care if my kid gives me grandkids.  I want granddogs.

Hello Garrett and welcome to IHD.
You seem to be a real "ESRF-veteran" and it is very impressive how you deal with it.
All the best and good luck for your third kidney transplant-work-up with hopefully a quick follow-up-transplant-operation wishes you Kristina. :grouphug;

Welcome to IHD!

Wow, you've been through a lot already for someone still as youong as you are.  I Pray a Tx is very near for you.

I did PD for 3 1/2 years until I slipped and gave myself a particularly nasty infection that ended up causing my switch to Hemo.

Stay vigilant in keeping your hands perfectly clean during set-ups and making all connections.  That was my error.  I must have hurried a bit that night.

Stay careful!

Take Care,
