And a happy New Year to everyone from me too. Here (England) it passed midnight a few minutes ago, and I have been listening to fireworks going off all around.

I have about 40ml in a 250ml bottle of beer that I have been slowly celebrating the new year. Really feel my liquid limit on days like today.

Bones Puppy, 11 y.o. G'Son and I drove down here to Dau's today after my treatment.  We left Gramma here last week.

Dau bought a big bottle of fizzy grape, it's on to cool right now!

... same here, except, that I was calculating all day long to make sure I took less liquid until the time arrived when I had my toast with Stilton-cheese and a nice glass of port....
Best wishes and good luck to everyone in the New Year from Kristina. :ukflag;

Hello lainiepop
We are not too far from Westminster and unfortunately we have not had a chance to see the New Year fireworks, we even have tried to see them from one of the bridges near Westminster, but there was no luck to see them either.
The last we heard about it is that seeing the New-Year-fireworks is available for lots of money and/or mainly "by invitation only". Do you know anything about that ?
Best wishes and good luck in 2018 from Kristina. :grouphug;
I remember "in the old days" some wonderful firework-displays in Battersea-Park, where everyone could see and enjoy them, but alas, that was "in the good old days"...

It is not "invitation only", anyone can go. But you do have to pay, and I believe you have to book in advance (no tickets "on the door").

Many thanks for the information Paul, very much appreciated.
.... What is difficult to comprehend, is the fact, that fireworks are usually seen for miles in the sky, but the New Year Westminster fireworks cannot be seen anywhere at all, except at a little space at Westminster, where people can enjoy it, after they paid their money ... and it seems a bit difficult to understand how come...

Whereabouts are u then kristina? They are in st James park pretty much but luckily their flat is top floor and has views of the millennium wheel which is where they set them off from.  Not sure I’d want to pay to be crammed in in the cold with loads of other people. We live in Bournemouth and have great fireworks by the pier every Friday of the summer hols for tourist lol and that’s free 😂

If you get high enough you can see them for free. They are also usually broadcast on TV.

Before I got sick I used to "nanny" for two dogs and two cats. When their humans went away I had to move in with my charges until the humans came back (basically house sitting as well). Their home was the penthouse flat on top of a yuppy tower in Limehouse (edge of Canary Wharf). Most years they took two weeks early November, so I was there on Guy Fawkes Night (Britain's main fireworks event). They were on the northern bank of the Thames and being on top of a tall block of apartments it had a great view of South London. On Guy Fawkes Night a fair percentage of the population have their own private fireworks displays in their gardens, plus there are several bigger public displays. Sitting on the balcony I could see all of these going off at once. Combined this was possibly the biggest firework display in the world!

 :oops; Just re-read my last post. It was NOT an invite to see fireworks by getting stoned!

Hello lainiepop,
I am not too far from St. James Park in Central London. Like yourself, I am not sure I would like to be crammed in the cold with lots of other people, especially since this is definitely "the coughing season"...
I did not know that there are fireworks every Friday in Bournemouth by the pier during the summer holidays ... that is most interesting to know... and many thanks for letting me know. Mind you, there might be a little problem, because since I have been put on the transplant-waiting-list about two years ago, I don't really want to travel too far away from home/hospital, just in case...
Thanks again for the information and best wishes for 2018 from Kristina. :grouphug;

Lucky you!!! You obviously were at the right time at the right place! I like Guy Fawkes Night with all the fireworks!  The only trouble these days is to find out, where best to go to see it all. Many years ago we saw some fantastic Guy-Fawkes- firework-displays in Muswell Hill near Alexander Palace. But the absolute favourite firework-display took place, when the GLC under Livingstone came to an end and to mark the occasion they gave a classical concert with accompanying fire-work-display near Crystal Palace and that was absolutely fantastic!
Well, hopefully there might be a chance to see some wonderful firework-displays again...
Best wishes and good luck in 2018 from Kristina. :grouphug;
