Title: Hello!
Post by: lulu836 on December 27, 2017, 02:57:34 PM
Hello All......I found this board just a few weeks ago and the Holidays got moving so I didn't get back to do the Introduction thing.  I'm in NW Louisiana - yes Cajun Country- and it is WAY too cold today!.  HBP led me to dialysis and I have squashed it with fluid control.  I may get thirsty, I may get irritable because I"m thirsty but I don't pass out any more trying to get to my "dry weight".   :2thumbsup;

Happy  :bandance; to find you folks..........Sorry  :thumbdown; for the reason.but Oh well  :banghead;

Hi Lulu!

Glad to have you join us here at IHD.

I well understand your thirst.  I am very hard on myself, restricting my fluids to only a single mouthful, than walk away.  That ain't always so easy when we've been so free most of our lives.

I have also had to learn to keep a bottle of Binders handy and taking a few with everything.  If I don't my phosporus begins climbing.  Skipping the potatoes, banana is tough.  I LOVE them! Wish there was a potassium binder.

Take Care,

Charlie B53

It's called Kayexalate (reduces K, but not strictly a "binder").   Oral or enema; either form makes you crap your guts out.

Welcome LuLu. Most of us are in the same boat, if that helps. No, huh?? In time, you will get all kinds of hints of things to do to help you out.

So,   :welcomesign;  to IHD and keep on asking questions.

Oh, wow!  My family is from Calcasieu Parish, down south around Lake Charles/Welsh.  Small world, yeah?

Anyway, welcome to our community.  You will find plenty of people who will offer a lot of information and support.  I'm glad you found us.

Thanks for the "welcome" posts everyone.  I got so tired of the "fluid struggle" I made a spreadsheet for "weekends" and "weekdays" with the days divided into 4 hour segments.  Each segment has the amount of fluid I can consume then.  For special occasions i plan ahead so I can drink with everyone else present.
