I’m 25 from NZ and have been on PD for 6 months but might be changing to HD soon

Welcome to the group. I hear that NZ is all home HD. Are you doing home PD already? There is a strong group of people here who are doing home dialysis both PD and HD.

Welcome, Jazmin77. I also do PD. And I hope I don't have to switch to Hemo anytime soon. :welcomesign;

Welcome to IHD Jasmin!
I did PD for my first 3 1/2 years and did very well with it. I had NO food or fluid restrictions at all. In fact my PD Nurse kept telling me I needed to eat more potassium as PD took so much out I needed to take potassium supplements.
I is a bit much having to set up my Cycler and get connected in the evening and being tied to my Cycler. Being a smoker and not smoking inside my house it was a bit awkward capping off during dwells so I could go out in the garage.
Sadly, I must have become too complacent setting up one night and must have touched a fitting with a finger tip, the resulting infection would NOT go away with repeated 30 courses of antibiotics and I had to have my PD Cath remove, an blood cath stuck in and started Hemo.
The fluid restrictions and dietary changes were tough to get used to, but I have managed and my labs are fine again.
Surprisingly, since I am an early riser and an early seat time at my clinic, I am finding Hemo works just fine for me. Get up, get in, get DONE. and I have the whole rest of the day, and EVENING, and the next day OFF.
This is working out just fine. Just this week it's been a whole year already.
Pay attention to details and keep your hands Religiously clean.
Take Care,
Charlie B53
