Hi John!

Welcome to our IHD 'Family'.

I successfully did 3 1/2 years on PD until I screwed up and managed to give myself an infection from Hell.  Ended up losoing my catheter and had to start Hemo.

I was very fortunate PD works so well that I had no limitations on food and drink.  I did need lots of potassium supplement, but your labs should direct your Dr if you need anything.

Keep your hands Religiously CLEAN.  Take extra care with every fitting making connections, EVERY TIME!

The beautiful thing about PD is it may be easily 'tailored' for each patient.  The solution concentration, volume, length of dwell, and the number of daily exchanges.  Dialed in for you and your labs will soon reflect the improvements.  The exchanges become a daily routine.   I was tickled to begin using my Cycler, switching all my daily manual exchanges for the Cycler doing all the work for me while I slept.

Give it some time.  Things will start working out for you.

Take Care,
