Title: Hello and Happy Holidays!
Post by: jlwickie on November 25, 2017, 05:10:32 PM
Hello,

I'm Jay from Northern VA.  I celebrated the 8th anniversary of my kidney transplant on Nov. 9th by starting dialysis.  :clap;  I was blindsided by the news that my kidney "Angie" was failing but I took it in stride.  I thanked God for giving me 8 years of life while I began my tailspin.  I was told by a Nephrologist that I had ruined my kidney by not taking care of it and after I found she hadn't even looked at my records which I made sure were available, I realized she did not have my best interest so she was of no use to me.

I have since found my bearings as well as what may have happened to Angie.  I stumbled across this forum while looking for cases in which the generic Prograpf (tachrilimus) caused organ failure.  I am already thankful for this forum and hope to contribute and encourage all here.

I wish everyone peaceful and strong days.

I seriously doubt that your lifestyle or anything else you did had cause the transplanted kidney to fail.

Transplants are only a treatment, not a cure.  We all know the new kidney can fail at any time, for any one of a myrad of reasons.

Be Thankful for the time you did have with your transplant.

Hopefully another will become available.   And also hopefully your new Nephrologist will closer monitor your labs and better follow your case.

Hello jlwickie. Welcome to the board.
 :welcomesign;
If a nephrologist tells you something stupid like that, ask them (politely) to list exactly what you did wrong to cause this, so that you don't do it again. Odds are they will have no idea what to say and have to apologize.
