Hi Boltwiz,
Welcome to IHD.
I am curious how you came to find us? Are you a renal patient, caregiver, something else?

I was Googling for phosphorus in sodas and one of the search results was this site. I am a renal patient. I go to the FMC 3x a week.

I used to Love Coke back when it was in the glass bottles. Since it's in plastic it just doesn't taste the same. I ended up quiting all soda when the stomach wouldn't open, the valve in my throat would close, trapping the soda in between. The bubbles would boil off creating massive pressure and PAIN until the stomach opened and let it go down. I very rarely even drink a beer now.
Since beginning Dialysis I've learned ALL dark colas are high in phosphorus. Good thing I no longer drink them.

I believe root beer is an exception

That's what my husband was told, good thing he loves root beer

Root beer isn't a cola. It's a root beer. And my favorite soft drink.

Good point. Thanks.

I've been saving Corona bottles as they are one of the few that uses a real pressed-on cap intending to one day make a batch of REAL Root Beet.
22 years now I have maybe three cases of bottles. I rarely drink a beer. A case can last me for years. The limes keep drying out in the refrigerator.
Found an old country store way out in the sticks that always has Cream Soda's in glas. Alas, many now have twist off caps. I'm not so sure those bottles will acccept a press-on well enough to contain the pressure that will build up so I don't bother to save those.
