I am Clara, a hemodialysis patient from the Western Cape in South Africa. Following a few years on hemodialysis in the 90's, I was blessed to receive a kidney from a live donor. After 17 years, I have been back on HD since 2013.

Welcome to the group.
At some point if you don't mind please would you share the experience of having the transplant kidney fail? As a new transplant recipient I'm interested in learning that part of the process. I hope that I have a long run with the donor kidney but its something I now need to educate myself about.
I've visited Cape Town twice well on dialysis (and JNB on the first trip), most recently last year with two sessions at NRC CAPE TOWN CBD in City Bowl last year. We enjoyed South Africa a good bit as indicated by our second trip, normally we don't really re-visit places but we headed back a second time last year.

Welcome to our IHD 'Family'. We have members all over. Kidney failure does not respect any race, or region, we all suffer together.
Sharing our experiences can make a huge difference as our Dr's really do not have a clue what we live with.
There is a wealth of information available here, if you cannot find anything simply ask, we will gladly try to help.
Take Care,
