Title: Transplant Question
Post by: iganepro on September 14, 2017, 04:31:38 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am on hemodialysis . My dad wants to donate a kidney to me. All tests done. But, they found out his blood sugar levels are bit more than normal and are considering that as pre diabetic and nurse told me that my dad may get diabetes after 5 years. Since my dad don't have concern , Is there anyway I can convince my doctor? Pls help.

Suggest that if your dad's pre-diabetic, maybe it's best to put one of his kidneys in you for safekeeping.

Hey, it's worth a shot.

Hi iganepro, I think I would not take the risk. You might find yourself (or other family members) feeling responsible if your dad actually becomes diabetic. My dad donated his kidney to me when he was 60. I was 19 then, he was completely healthy. When he was 80 he started deteriorating (as is likely to happen at that age) I had quite some family members looking or saying that that was because of having 1 kidney.

Is there anyone you can discuss this with who is anonymous?

I wish you wisdom in your decision, love, Cas
