Title: Some good news
Post by: kickingandscreaming on July 07, 2017, 01:21:12 PM
I have posted about this before:  I've been threatened by my PD team with having to switch from PD to HD because i have had bad clearance numbers for a while and have done tons of clearance tests and kept failing.  So they have been raising my fill volume until I finally passed the clearance test today!   Problem was that due to several hospitalizations in recent months, my residual renal function dropped off to very little from quite a lot in a very steep decline.  So they increased the number of cycles I do daily as well as the volume of the fill (it's now 2400 ml/fill).  And finally I passed the clearance.  :bandance; So I can continue PD for the present-- until some other catastrophe comes along.

It's especially good news when you consider that the choice was really between PD aand hospice as I am determined NOT to do HD.

I had Faith enough for both of us that adjusting your cycles would make the difference.

Sorry that it had to include increasing the fill volume but give it enough time and the abdomen will slowly stretch to accommodate and not feel quite so 'stuffed'.

Myself, I am relieved the Vascular Surgeon has told my clinic to hold off and not to begin 'sticking' me until he can do a fistula-gram and possibly make some improvements. That needle-phobia hasn't changed a bit, yet. But that time is growing near.

Go K&S!!  I love it!  We will pray that there is no next catastrophe and that you get to do PD until you decide not to.  I am so happy for you!
