Please I hope someone has answer. I woke up with little pain in my upper stomach like cramp type. After hemodialysis is got worse. I thought maybe I was hungry but that wasnt it. I used to have a periotneal catheter and the pain was similar to this but it doesnt make sense because I dony have a catheter in my abdomen anymore. Hope someone can give me an answer.

What have you eaten yesterday?
-
Cereal, cheesesticks and ravioli some corn and strawberry lemonade and a little bit of tea
-
Could it be acid reflux? Or an ulcer?
-
I think it might be irritable bowel syndrome because I cant hold down dairy like I did in the past its weird.
-
Dairy should not be a big part of the renal diet anyway.
-
Definitely ask to get a referral to a gastro. There are tests they can do for IBS. I don't handle dairy to well, either. For those times you do want to partake in diary, can dialysis patients take lactaid?
-
It's not the lactose that is renal unfriendly. Only if you're lactose intolerant--in which case lactaid can help. Dairy is restricted because it is very high in phosphorus and not high enough in protein to warrant it as a protein food. It's also high in calcium, another mineral that is problematic for many with renal failure. A small amount is OK-- occasionally.

I have a serious problem with Cheese.
I like it.
As with most all foods I like, you keep telling me I shouldn't have much of it!
-
I'm such a badass! You can eat whatever you like. just know there are often consequences.
-
My phos is undercontrol. I actually had my parathyroids taken out because they were overactive and I need to eat calcium and phos to reach normal levels.
-
Moderation helps also. A slice of cheese my be okay, but not a block of cheese.

I am a cheese fiend, too.
