Title: Please think of 3rd June London victims.
Post by: kristina on June 04, 2017, 02:23:05 AM
Timeline | How events in London unfolded
10.07pm Ambulance services were called to reports of a vehicle ploughing through pedestrians on London Bridge, arriving within six minutes.
10.08pm Police are called to the scene. Officers then attended a second incident at nearby Borough Market after reports of stabbings.
10.16pm Within eight minutes, three male suspects were shot dead in Borough Market by police marksman. The men were wearing what looked like explosive vests but these were later found to be hoaxes.
12.25am on Sunday Both incidents were declared by the Metropolitan Police as terror attacks.
4am Police confirm six people were killed in the rampage.
9.30am Seven people have died, Metropolitan Police confirms
Other key information
At least 48 patients were taken to five hospitals, London Ambulance Service said, with more than 80 medics having been sent to the scene
A third incident at Vauxhall was a stabbing and unrelated, Scotland Yard said.
Three men began attacking people, including a British Transport Police Officer in the nearby market - one witness, Gerard, told the BBC they were shouting "This is for Allah".
The suspects were confronted and shot by police at Borough Market within eight minutes of the first call being made.

.... All this is beyond comprehension and very difficult to accept as reality...

As much as I respect Human life and absolutely hate to hear of anyone dying long before their time, I have to commend those Officers for their quick response and action in putting and end to those three persons responsible for causing the majority of human damage.

Sad that these offenders had to die, but far too often an offender will refuse to follow the directives of Officers and continue to attempt to instill human damage.  That had to be stopped.

That is now 3 terror attacks on uk soil in something like the last 10 weeks. Utterly shocking. Fed up of the country and world we live in. Fed up of having to switch off tv as my 5 yr old gets terrified as her grandparents live in westminster. Fed up trying to answer my 9 yr old's questions 'why are they here wanting to kill us shouting for Allah?' Because truely i have no idea what to say. Sadly i fear it will continue and get worse depending on who wins election on thursday. No politician will do anything. Same process it was a one off, lone wolf, nothing to do with islam, light candles change profile pic and wait for next attack and repeat. To be fair tereasa may's speech today was certainly stronger but don't believe it! All of u in the usa thank u for your support over this and manchester attack xxx

Kristina, I sincerely hope that did not happen close to you as I can only imagine the terror one would feel. It is unfortunate that this type of people choose to kill those people even tho I am certain the ones murdered did not claim to be Christians. I will pray for all those who lost their lives.

Thank you Charlie, lainiepop and Jean,
unfortunately it did happen very close and the area, where it happened, is very popular and has many speciality/gourmet food shops, which are regularly used by many Londoners at all times.
Today London feels very eerie and extremely strange and many people feel very insecure. Of course, it is still our beloved city, but something has definitely changed.
Many politicians say they are outraged, but that sort of talk does not seem to be assuring enough any longer...

This will not be dealt with until society admits the chances of a young male Muslim being a terrorist is much greater than the chances of a young male non-Muslim being one, and starts to take appropriate action, including profiling.

That is an interesting observation, Simon and I wonder about it? Could it be that some Muslims feel overly challenged whilst they try to combine their religious upbringing with our Society and it does not add up and ends in frustration? But -  such a thought could question their being here and perhaps they question it themselves?
There is so much talk about an "Islamic State" and I don't quite understand the meaning, because, looking at the map. there are quite a few Islamic States about already, are there not?

Bias rears it's ugly head again.

Muslim being painted with a very broad brush.  There is a world of difference between the average Muslim and those 'Radical' Muslim's that are killing innocent people.

The average Muslim is abhorred by the violence.

How to make the distinction between the two?  That is the problem.

Maybe we could insist they wear signs. Ya know, like "  I am a terrorist" or " I am not a terrorist". No, I am joking, nobody is that stupid. And I dont mean to make light of it either as very many in the US are scared witless too. My husband and I deal with people from Iran and they are great people and Christians too.

Yes.  The elder Muslim men and women need to take hold of their youth.

... That is the general public's thought here in London as well....

The issue is NOT the fact that the vast majority of Muslim immigrants are good people.    The issue is that the chances of a Muslim immigrant being a terrorist are MUCH greater than the chances of a non-Muslim being one.   The challenge is how to effectively use this statistical truth to improve defenses without stepping on the rights of that peaceful majority.

This I agree with.

The issue is that the chances of a Muslim immigrant being a terrorist are MUCH greater than the chances of a non-Muslim being one.
This I also unfortunately agree with (in the US), but that's just because we refuse to label non-Muslim terrorist activities as terror.

You are right, Iolaire.  It gets called hate crimes instead of terrorism.  I think Dylann Roof is a terrorist.  I mean, he killed people simply because of their color.  Isn't that the same as killing someone because he or she is not Muslim?  Is holy war, or jihad, any different from hate crimes?
