Title: Arterial Air Alarms
Post by: WillieWundt on February 22, 2017, 02:47:25 PM
I have used NxStage for about two years. Six months ago I been nighttime dialysis. I run for about 8 hrs a night at a 300 blood volume.  The major problem I am having is a preponderance of arterial air alarms the occur in the night. Both my arterial and venous needles are placed in buttonholes and are well taped in place. With the arterial air alarms going off two or three times a night, both my wife and I are having difficulty getting  good night's sleep. Especially since after checking for air in the arterial line, there was no evidence of air in the lines. Restarting the treatment without any further adjustment was successful  and the treatment continued for another couple of hours without incident. Is there someway to minimize these alarms? Or is there some way to adjust the cycler to minimize these alarms? Or is there something wrong with the cycler?

This is causing a great deal of stress, especially for my wife who is having difficulty with sleep disturbance, as she is the one who needs to get up several times a night to check for arterial air and restart my treatment. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I assume you have already contacted Tech Support? You might have to swap your cycler. It really is a stress booster those un-useful red alarms.
I hope you and your wife can sleep in peace soon.
