Title: Vanderbilt Artificial Kidney
Post by: ljprevo on February 09, 2017, 09:40:16 AM
Hi everyone, I have been on dialysis almost two years now.  I can honestly say, though I hate having to go to dialysis, I don't hate my care takers.  The clinic I go to has great nurses and techs, it is a joy to see them, though the reason I am there is not so thrilling.

However, I am writing to ask if anyone has heard about the artificial kidney they are developing at Vanderbilt University?

I searched the forums and did not see any discussion here about it.

This looks to have some great promise.  They claim to they should be able to start clinical trial by end of this year/beginning of 2018.

Here is their site: https://my.vanderbilt.edu/kidney/

Here is a youtube video about the kidney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qasy3YvvBE

I am very excited about this breakthrough.  Curious what others here think.
