Des was always a bundle of good cheer. She loved her children and family with every ounce of her dear little self. The last year or so, we did not talk a whole lot, but she was always ready and willing to sit and chat. I will miss her.

I'm truly sorry to read this, Love and strength to her family.

Des was far, far too young to be taken. I will miss her. She was on my "visit list" of friends. I am saddened that she has left her lovely children and the rest of her family.
RIP
Aleta

My first thought is that this just can't be true. I don't know what is going on with fb, but in the past month or so, I've had two friends who have said that their fb page has been hacked. I'm trying to convince myself that this just is not true.
The very first year I participated in IHD's Secret Santa, I was drawn to be her Secret Santa. I visited a World Heritage Site in southernmost IL (Cahokia, if anyone wants to google it), and I bought a pair of Native American made dolls, one for her and one for me. I thought that would provide a nice and comforting sense of "connection" between the two of us.
So, I feel a little bit broken.
This makes me very sad.

I feel broken, too, MM.
I remember when she was struggling with dialysis I sent her a book (Wherever You Go, There You Are). She said that it really helped.
The world is a little less bright with less sparkle.

I am very sorry to read this and it makes me very sad.
Des and I started here on IHD around the same time and we both tried ever so hard
to keep our kidney function going for as long as possible ...
I have always admired her dedicated fighting spirit and it so very sad to read that she is no longer with us.
I will miss her.
RIP
Kristina.

It's always saddening when we lose a member of this community and all the more so when it's someone we feel we really got to know. I was so glad when Des got her transplant and always admired her love for her family. I will miss her and hope that her husband and kids find the comfort they need to go forward.
RIP Des.
