Probably a stupid question but can u get highlights or dye hair after tx?! Just fanxied a change lol

This must be another of those 'Female' things that I haven't a clue about.
But my usual smart-elic response may be appropriate here.
Why not? Who cares what anyone else thinks? It shouldn't affect your health one bit, unless your Dr can't recognize you and you do not get any treatment you may need.
Add a big pair of glasses also. lol

Of course you can, I'm jealous already
Enjoy, Cas

I read on some site pre-transplant that you shouldn't color your hair post transplant since your body can absorb the chemicals. I stopped coloring my hair pre-transplant and have let the gray (in my case) grow in. Great decision for me. Saved a ton of money and I love not being concerned about it. However, having said that, I wonder if that's outdated info. I know the whole process uses much gentler products than in the old days. I'd check with the docs, just to be sure.

The only info i can find online is about having patch tests done first due to the chemicals and taking prednisolone which is more likely to cause a reaction to scalp. Im not on prednisolone anyway. Will ask at next clinic visit. I dont have greys anyway at mo!

It never occurred to me. I started getting my hair highlighted for the first time after transplant. It's pretty obvious and the transplant clinic never said anything when they saw it.

I never thought about the possibility of absorption. Wife has her hair colored for 40 years, at least. She started greying mid 20's and it made her crazy(ier). Maybe she HAS been absorbing those chemicals after all.
40 odd years and I'm still telling her she's crazy. She don't listen.
Way way long ago she told me of seeing some Lady in the grocery store. The lady asked if she knew her. Then blurted out LOUD "Oh now I remember, you were the lady at the hairdresser getting your HAIR COLORED."
Patsy said "I almost ran over her with my shopping cart".

I have had my hair colored for years. Post transplant, I still wanted to look good. My transplant team said it had to do with how much prednisone you were on & to talk with my hair dresser & see if she was comfortable with it. We decided to wait on highlights the first month and go for it the second month. I'm satisfied with the outcome. :thumbup;
