Anyone tried the new cycler settings that are supposed to reduce bubbles and snap and tap time? I really didn't want to be the first but I think I'll give it a try.
-
I read the memo from Nxstage that you attached. Sounds like very goods news. Hope you'll come back and let everyone know how it went. When we were doing home-hemo, I did snap/tap 3 times and that was after letting it sit first for several minutes after prime. I was always paranoid of bubbles.

I'm on the 2nd night using the new settings.
They help a lot.
Much less air takes 26 minutes to prime now....
I like the new settings.
-
Are you saying it takes 26 min vs 15 min for the cycler to prime or same 15 min but reduced snap and tap time. Thanks.
-
26 minutes to prime with no real need to snap and tap.
I still do some snap & tapping but very little if any air is left in the system.
With the 15 minute prime I always had 10 minutes of snap & tap to get the air out.

I will touch base with the local NXStage rep tomorrow about this...in the meantime...I am printing this out :thx;

I used the new settings today and like them. Very few bubbles on first S and T. Did second to be sure and no bubbles. Works well for me. I just printed out setting and programmed in machine. Very easy to do. Saves the energy of S and T... :clap; :bandance; :bandance; :yahoo; :yahoo; :thumbup;

Tried the new settings tonight. Works excellent.

Just to weigh in I agree there are fewer bubbles. One snap and tap or 2 real quick ones does the trick. Not sure what the NxStage protocol will call for. I do like it. The only difference other than the 22 minutes I noticed was the saline seemed to be pumping faster during the snap and tap. Maybe my imagination. Also I don't have the new "S" cycler so tech support said to be sure setting "0" was set to "0". If you have the "S" cycler that setting should be "8". Anyway all is working well with the new settings.

The new settings changed the pump speeds during prime and during the 23.
during the 23 the blood side speed is 600 instead of 200
and the dialyzate side runs slower 200 IIRC

Makes sense. Thanks.

Love the new settings...so much easier! :thx;

We've been on the 26 min. prime, and unless I leave it running to recirculate for hours, I spend about 15 mins trying to get all the air out of the kidney filter. Letting it recirculate for several hours generally gets almost all air out. I've never had air in the lines, but the filter....jeez...lots of air remains with only 26 mins!

>recirculate for several hours generally gets almost all air out
Yep, that's what we do. Works great.
