So yesterday bit of a pain in my fistula arm. One of the unused buttonholes looked a bit red too. After D this morning I rang the nurse, he said to come in, but I had no transport. I asked if I could go to a unit nearby, but no a Doctor must see my arm, so an antibiotic could be prescribed.
So I said: how about I make some pictures of my arm, mail them to you, and than the doc can write a prescription.
I did that (well, I asked a neighbour to take them, he stayed quite cool) sent them. Than a vascular nurse rang that I had to come in cause infected.
I go in by taxi (hosp sent it) ,and have to go for ultrasound to look for pockets with infection.
Conclusion: no pockets but 'some' thrombosis in fistula. And flow halved again to 250.
So a scan to look for veins in other arm. I had a fistula there when I was little, which was taken out after thrombosis. They found 1 vein which is deep, and far away from artery.
So I'll ring tomorrow to find out what the plan is.
And I am going to my best friends wedding in the Netherlands if D goes okay tomorrow.
Thanx for reading, and loving y'all a lot, Cas

Sorry, for that setback. Wishing and hoping it will clear up. It is a difficult disease but you handle it so gracious and calm patience!
Thanks for all you do supporting others.

I'm not a hemo/fistula person, so I can't know the import of what you're describing. But it sounds like something I wish you didn't have to go through. I hope there's a simple solution to it. Fingers crossed.
-
Thank you all sweet people. Means a lot to me
:cuddle;

Hello Cassandra,
Thinking of you with fingers crossed
and good-luck-wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;
... And I do hope (fingers crossed again) you are well and can go to your best friends wedding in the Netherlands ... :waving;
-
Thank goodness there is no infection! But if it's thrombosis don't they clear that up with a angioplasty?
-
I hope the fistula is fine, I never thought I would care so much about weird bump on my arm, the thing is like a stupid friend, some times a pain but your life is better with it. Hope yours is ok.
-
Sounds like you caught the problem in time to avoid a stay in the hospital. Tell them you've got a bed waiting for you in the Netherlands. If I remember correctly, that's where you're from so don't hesitate to tell them to hurry up and fix this thing because you need to get home and get on with the partying. :beer1;
-
If only you were made out of metal, I could fix you. I'm even O.K. with wood, and some plastics, but I HATE plastics.
That soft squishy stuff we are made of. I'm powerless. But not for the lack of want.
Praying all goes well quickly so not to interrupt your plans.
Take Care,
Charlie B53

Thank you, thank you all sweet people.
:thx; :bow;
D going okay,nearly done. My bloods came back okay, white bloodcells fine but CRP definitely up, so I'm glad I went to hosp.
HD2 the problem with my fistula is that 'they' can't get in it anymore (stenosis a lot) but than again I've had it since '98, never was perfect, so it did well really.
Love y'all many, and will be reporting back from lovely Rotterdam
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

So will you get a catheter shoved in your chest? You need to dialyze some how?
-
Enjoy your vacation, I hope the arm worry settles down enough to be able to enjoy the trip.
