Title: Quinine for leg cramps
Post by: sinoxid on April 10, 2007, 01:24:03 AM
Now that they have stopped giving Quinine sulfate for leg cramps --- whats left?  They put me on Vitimun E (400unitd), it does not work very good. I get cramps in my sides, legs and hands.
Is there anything out there that works???

I'm not sure if your cramps in your legs would be RLS or not but here is a link for RLS: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=3325.0

If they will still let you take Quinine, I had some success with Hyland's tablets and cream for leg cramps.  You can find it online - http://www.hylandslegcramps.com/ or at health food stores.  The cream alone does help and doesn't contain Quinine, although it works better with the tablets.

I think there is another post like this one.  The problem is (at least at Fresenius clinics) is that we can no longer get Quinine from our medication supplier.  You can get a script for it and bring your own though.

Yes John takes Quinine Sulphate 300m.  one a day seems to work for him.  But you could drink Tonic water as that contains quinine
