Title: Baxter vs Fresenius PD Cyclers
Post by: carson on April 09, 2007, 07:10:33 PM
Last week I was switched to Baxter Homechoice Cycler. So far I don't find much difference, although I'm looking forward to starting Icodextrin (pardon my spelling). The biggest thing I find, and it's really irritating, is the noise of the machine. My fresenius cycler made barely audible noises, but this Baxter thing keeps me and my husband awake a good portion of the night. It's making me more tired than I already am and more irritable too!! Any ways to make it less noisey? Or will we just get used to it? :banghead;
Thanks...Lisa

Hi Lisa,  sorry you are both losing sleep~ sounds all too familiar, but I found My solution...  Did you get the 3-prong integrated PD sets?  Using them has made it possible to move my cycler out of the bedroom and around the corner.  No more light or noise to bother me.  ( I do hear the alarms if they go off ,though)  I taped a mask-flap over the light when I had it in the bedroom and placed the machine on a Turkish towel at first, then realized I could use the soft styrofoam the cycler was packaged in , to set it upon.  This also cushioned the noise, but that too was when I had it in the bedroom.  Sure hope you find a solution quickly and get back to sleeping!  Good luck.

I hardly hear the machine anymore, when i did, the noise really didnt bother me, i thought it sounded like a fish tank,  How often do the alarms go off and what is the message it is reading?  My alarm rarely goes off (thank God) i hope you find a solution to your problem and have a good nights sleep soon.  Good luck...  :cuddle;
