Title: Have you guys noticed your creatinine goes DOWN when prograf dose is REDUCED?
Post by: DialysisGoneFOREVER on April 01, 2016, 12:40:20 PM
I'm not talking about a massive reduction that would cause your kidney to reject. Just a small reduction. For example if they reduced your prograf from 6mg to 4mg your creatinine would likely go DOWN and kidney function goes UP!

You agree? Have you heard this from anyone at your transplant center?

I've noticed this. In the early days, I could tell just by looking at my creatinine level if my prograf level had gotten too high. My transplant center pointed out the correlation to me.

In the early days, creatinine level bounces around quite a bit, as does the prograf level. Eventually, it all stabilizes. It's a balancing act. They want us to have a high enough prograf level to be beneficial, but not so high that it becomes quickly toxic. While it might look like a lower prograf level provides better kidney function, how long would this last? You'd likely soon reject.

I don't think so. You need to maintain a delicate balance. I'm not talking of a massive reduction. You can lower the prograf but still stay in the desired range you know?
