Title: Quickly Defrost Windows
Post by: pagandialysis on January 07, 2016, 09:57:47 AM
I saw this on Facebook today and I wanted to share it. Normally I don't share random information like this, but since it came from a News station I doubt it doesn't work.

You just mix 1/3 parts water to 2/3 parts Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and add it to a spray bottle. The mixture won't freeze so you can keep it in your car.

I got nominated to clear the windows on Wife's Astro AWD this morning so she could go to work at the High School.  I made of quart of this mixture, a bit strong.  I wiped out the frost on all the side and rear windows.  The 4 inches of ice and snow in the windsheild, not a bit.  I used my trusty squeegee to shove off the snow, once I got to the ice than I soaked it.  By then the heater was helping a lot.  I did make a noticeable difference getting through the ice so she could get going.

My truck is plugged in.  Still have some frost but I had it out yesterday so no ice and snow.  Windows should defrost before I get to the street.

LOVE my block heater.  Keep telling her I should rewire the garage so she can have one put in her van and have enough power in the garage to plug it in without blowing the breaker.

Of course, if she would clear all her 'stuff' out of the garage we could park BOTH vehicles inside, and never have to deal with ANY frost.  I doubt that will ever happen.
