Title: Phosphorus levels on nxstage
Post by: del on November 26, 2015, 05:03:06 PM
Hubby just started training for nxstage.  His kt/v is really good 2.55 but his phos is elevated a bit.  When he was on nocturnal(Fresenius @home machine) he could basically eat what he wanted and phos was in normal range (most times).  He does 3 hours a day 5 days a week right now.  The training nurse is checking with the doctor today about him starting a phos binder.  Anybody else on nxstage short daily have issues with phos?

I take binders as well on NxStage/day.

Your issue is not NxStage vs BabyK but nocturnal v. daytime.   Once you get back on nocturnal the Phos issue will probably resolve.

That's interesting....My husband uses Nxstage 5x a week and never had any problems with his phosphorous level until he recently had to do in-center for a month (3x a week). His latest labs kind of blindsided him. I figure it will take a month of doing home-hemo again before things get back to normal. Until then, more binders and no baked potatoes!

Sorry, should have said " my labs" are fine. Fat fingers and a phone.

He has binders as of today so it should be good until he starts nocturnal again.  Hopefully that will be shortly after Christmas.  There is a huge difference in phos when doing nocturnal vs short daily!!
