Title: New Here
Post by: jac719 on October 05, 2015, 09:24:05 AM
Hello,

My name is José and I am new to dialysis as of July 28th of this year.  Was quite a surprise since I had no idea that I had kidney disease.  I was fortunate enough to be linked up with NxStage, they have been wonderful.  Within two months, my wife and I have completed the training and I am doing home hemodialysis which has enabled me to keep my full time job.  I am open to any suggestions, tips or advice as how to deal with this life changing event.

Regards,
José

Welcome, jac719. Best suggestion I can make is to say tape the phone number to Nxstage to your cycler. Their tech support people are available 24/7 and will become your best friends.

Welcome to the site.

I am also a Nx Stage user.

Sorry you have to join this land of needles, hoses, and chairs but should you have questions or concerns you are in the right place.

I would be interested in how you determined you had a health problem - that ended up with kidney troubles.   In my case, I just conked out and they wheeled me into the hospital.  Once there they discovered a myriad of problems.  I did escape, am no longer on dialysis.  I don't know if anyone else has ever escaped dialysis but there is hope.  Get tested now and then.
If you ever need any stupid non-medical and useless advice, look me up.
I just hang around here for the hell of it.  I'm the house pet.  Arf!
